Description
In this class we will walk the grounds of Racebrook Tract in Orange, CT, (approx. 1 mile hike). We will find at least 25 wild edibles and discuss identification, edible components, environmental importance, taxonomy and more. This walk will focus primarily on plants and is geared toward beginner foragers. The class will run approximately an hour and a half. Some of the plants we will be looking at are: wild black raspberry, dewberry, mugwort, shagbark hickory, wild grape, jewelweed, white oak, northern bayberry, shadblow, black tupelo, eastern hemlock, sweet fern and more.
