Description
In this class we will walk the grounds of Racebrook Tract in Orange, CT, (approx. 1 mile hike). We will find at least 25 wild edibles and discuss identification, edible components, environmental importance, taxonomy and more. This walk will focus primarily on plants and is geared toward beginner foragers. During October we have a good chance of seeing some mushrooms and discussing them as well. The class will run approximately 2 hours. Some of the plants we will be looking at are: wild fox grape, kousa dogwood, mugwort, garlic mustard, bittercress, black birch, northern bayberry, Shagbark Hickory and more.
