Description
Late June is a great time for foraging. We will be looking at the development of a number of edible wild fruits such as dewberry, black raspberry and wild black cherry.
In this class we will walk the grounds of Eisenhower Park in Milford, CT, (approx. 1 mile hike). We will find at least 25 wild edibles and discuss identification, edible components, environmental importance, taxonomy and more. This walk will focus primarily on plants but if we find any mushrooms we’ll discuss them. The class will run approximately two hours. Some of the plants we will be looking at are: Staghorn Sumac, Spicebush, shagbark hickory, wild grape, Autumn Olive, Sassafras and more. This class will be lead by Joe Ross, owner of eattheplanet.org. Please direct all questions to Joe@eattheplanet.org.
